Find Out 10 Ways You Can Avoid Sin
Are you looking for ways to avoid being sinful? Here are 10 ways the Bible helps us avoid sin...
#10 Be Humble
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:12

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18

The first way to avoid sin is to watch for pride which is trying to create an unguarded portion of your heart. It is easy to think, ‘I would never to that.” But that little voice we often hear in our heads is lulling us to sleep. We are liable to fall into any sin which we do not guard against. Rather than thanking God that you are not like someone who is sinning, ask God to keep you from that sin and help you stand in the righteous opposite of it.

A wise Christian once said, “Tell me what you don’t struggle with and would never do, and I will show you the area of your life where you are most liable to fall.” Don’t let pride create a breach in the defenses of your heart.

#9 Avoid Temptation
“Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.” Proverbs 4:14-15

It is worth going out of your way to avoid sin. Don’t go down that aisle at the grocery store. Don’t walk on the side of the road by that store front. Don’t visit that hang-out. It is better to be inconvenienced than to be tempted. Avoiding temptation does not show weakness, it shows wisdom. You are not stronger than Sampson, godlier than David, or wiser than Solomon. Don’t let people dare you into sin. Just like the guy who won’t take a foolish dare is brave, not the coward his companions claim he is, so you are strong if you will go out of your way to avoid sin.
#8 Pray for Deliverance
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13

Jesus instructed us to pray that God will keep us from evil by helping us avoid temptation. You don’t even know where temptation may be lurking. Ask your heavenly Father to protect you and guide you. Ask Him to direct your path to avoid temptation, and ask Him to keep you from noticing things which might lead you to sin. He is mighty to deliver.
