Here are 3 more ways you can avoid being sinful...
#7 Be Careful When Helping Others
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an
one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1
“And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”
Jude 23
If you are reaching out to people, trying to draw them out of sin toward the Savior, be very careful. Paul
tells the church to have mature believers do this work, and warns even them to watch themselves. Jude urges
Christians to save people from sin, but to hate even the innocent things which are associated with sin.
The best way to avoid sin is to avoid being around it. If you are around it for ministry, make sure you do
not give any place to it. And if you find yourself curious or desiring to learn more (your flesh will
justify it as necessary to know enough to help other people), get help and get away from the sin.
#6 Use Scripture
“And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it
be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word of God.” Luke 4:3-4
Even our Savior Himself avoided sin by meeting temptation with the Word of God. Don’t try to rationalize
your way out of temptation – Satan can rationalize as well as you can. The only tool which cannot fail is
the Word of God. It is your shining sword. Learn it, familiarize yourself with it, memorize it, and use it.
#5 Look for the Way Out
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is
faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also
make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
When you find yourself face to face with temptation. Perhaps you feel your mind starting to think something
you know is wrong, or you picture something evil, or you want to say something vengeful, stop. Look for the
way out and take it.
Perhaps you’ve noticed the fire escape in a building and mentally noted it for later. When you are facing
temptation, you are not in that situation. You are in a burning building. Get to the fire escape and get
out. If you have people with you, help them get out if they will come. But do not stay hoping to get out
after you’ve had a little more fun. Use the fire escape and you will avoid sin.
