In 1955 five men – Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Pete Fleming, and Roger Youderian – were martyred by the Auca Indians in the South American country of Ecuador. The story of their ministry and death stirred up multitudes of young Christians who dedicated their lives to foreign mission service. Their legacy lives on in the Christians who know that “he is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose” (Jim Elliot).
