| I often think it is a shame that the shepherds in Luke’s narrative are only visited once a year at Christmas. Their story is one that fascinates me and shows just how amazing our God is. God chose those on the edges of their communities to be part of the first hearers of the Good News of Jesus’ birth. Here we see them returning the practicalities of everyday life; they are returning to their jobs, but as they do they praise God for what He has shown them. We can be encouraged that as we go about our everyday activities, we can be like the shepherds and praise God for all he has done, is doing and will continue to do.

| Father, I thank you and praise you for the Good News of Jesus. I thank you for your faithfulness to me. I thank you that your promises are fulfilled in Jesus. I thank you for my job and my workplace. Help me to remember to give you thanks and praise as I go about my daily life. May I never lose the wonder of the cross and all you have done for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen
