No one will say that Adam and Eve’s expulsion from their Garden home was not sad. It is the first sad story ever recorded.
After Eden’s first inhabitants were driven out, God protected the entrance to the Garden. No longer would anyone have access to the tree of life and live forever.
Eden was spoiled. The whole earth was under a curse.
Within the past weeks, I have read and heard of deadly forest fires, mass shootings, deadly car collisions, a helicopter crash, and a horrible accident that killed three siblings at a school bus stop.
Does anyone want to live forever in a world where these tragedies are commonplace? I don’t.
I long for the day when I inhabit the new home God has prepared for me. In this home there will be no more death, no sorrow or crying, and no more pain (Revelation 21:4).
God is holding open a room for me in that new home. One day, he will welcome me to live there forever.

 |
| Holy Father, Creator of all that is good, I thank You for all You are and all You have done. Thank you for sending Jesus to redeem us from the curse of sin. Be with me today as I contend with the evils of this earth. Help me cling to You and Your promises. Bless me that I may spread Your love to all those I meet today. Amen.
