Just one chapter before this verse, John calls his fellow followers of Jesus little children who have overcome. He then goes on to say that we, as little children, have a great truth within us. That truth is this: He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).
John goes on to encourage all believers with these words. We who are born of God will overcome the world because of our faith in what our God has done.
Nothing you are facing today has come as a surprise to God. Nothing in this world can defeat those who are born of God. He that is in you IS greater than he that is in the world.
I encourage you today to live and pray from this position. Jesus died to make your relationship with God possible.

| Father, I thank You for the privilege of prayer. I thank you for this reminder of how powerful You are. I thank You for the truth that You are greater than anything the world can throw at me or offer me. My treasure is in Jesus. My identity is as Your child. My assignment is to bless, and Your presence is my lifeline. Come, Holy Spirit. Amen.

Paul begins his conclusion to the letter to the church in Corinth with one of his trademark short-statement sentences.
He calls the church to watch and to be on guard. We are in a battle and we need to be reminded of that fact. Even when life is ‘going well,’ we need to remember to be on our guard.
The Corinthians were subject to the invasion of false teachers, so the exhortation to stand firm in the faith was a timely reminder. Paul then closes this section by calling them all to be of courage and be strong; that is, marked by maturity and not infants easily swept aside by the false teaching of the day.
My encouragement for you today is to take some time with God and ask Him which of these three statements He wants to talk with you about. Do you need to be on your guard? Do you need to stand firm in the faith? Or do you need to grow in maturity? Let the Holy Spirit guide you in all truth today.

| Father, I thank You that You are at work in my life and in the lives of all Your people. You know my heart and where You long to see me grow. I ask, Holy Spirit, that You will guide me today.
