"And such as do wickedly
against the covenant shall he corrupt by
flatteries: but the people that do know their God
shall be strong, and do exploits." |

When I started teaching, I was
blessed with many good teachers who have become
great friends. These friends listened to me, helped
me, and blessed me as I grew in Christ.
One teacher gave me some simple advice when it
comes to teaching about God: Know your audience.
Know your subject. Know your God.
The Bible is full of stories of people who knew
their God and did great things. These include:
Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Daniel, David, Paul, Peter,
and John. Each stepped out in courage to do amazing
things.
I will not build an ark, tie my son to an altar,
save Israel from a famine, survive a night in a den
of lions, kill Goliath, make missionary journeys to
all parts of the world, preach a powerful sermon on
Pentecost, or see visions from the Isle of Patmos.
But God has a plan for me. My exploits may be more
in the order of raising godly children, showing
Christian hospitality, teaching the Cradle Roll
class, and loving the people the world rejects.
But God can take my efforts, however insignificant
they are, and multiply them to serve His purpose.
Don’t underestimate your importance in the Kingdom.

Today's Prayer |
|
Holy One, I praise You. I thank You for Your
grace and mercy at work in my life. I thank You for the cross.
Bless me that I will serve You and bless Your Holy Name. Lord, lead
me into all truth. Guide my footsteps that I may be strong and do
great exploits in Your Name, not for my glory, but that Your
message of grace may be proclaimed to the nations. Amen.

Yesterday's Bible

"And you, that were
sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by
wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the
body of his flesh through death, to present you
holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his
sight." |

When I look in the mirror,
I see wrinkled skin and tired eyes.
These signs of age are evidence that God has
blessed me with a long life. Some of my friends
died young. I think of them when I hold my
grandbaby. This earthly joy was stolen from
them by an early death. I am thankful for the
good things that come with a long life.
My mirror also reminds me that Jesus lowered
Himself to take on flesh like mine. The One and
Only Son of the King of Heaven left his
rightful place to stand where I stand. He
experienced fatigue, hunger, rejection, and the
worst physical pain imaginable. Lauren Daigle
speaks to this truth in her song, Trust in You:
“There’s not a place where I’ll go, you’ve not
already stood.”
Finally, my mirror reminds me I was made to
reflect God’s image. Sin mars that image, but
it does not destroy it. God is working even now
to grow me more and more into His image.
I glance into a mirror several times every day.
Usually I am checking my hair or my makeup. I
rarely take time to consider other things my
mirror is telling me: You have been blessed
with a long life. Jesus came to earth to
experience life as you experience it. You
are
made in the image of God.

Yesterday's Prayer |
|
Father of Salvation, thank You for every
earthly blessing I have enjoyed. Thank You especially for Your
plan to bless me eternally. This plan depended upon Jesus’
willingness to take on skin and live on a polluted planet.
Remind me that I am to be an earthly copy of a Heavenly God. I
pray through Jesus. Amen.
