Today's Bible VerseHe shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Psalm 91 talks about the confidence we can have in all circumstances of our lives. Because Jesus is our protector, we can know that regardless of what happens in the world, we are secure in His love forever. Whatever happens this coming year, we know that we will be held closely by the Lord.
This verse reminds us that we are under His wings. In other words, the Lord is covering us—His arms are around us, protecting us like a father. Because we know that He is with us always, we do not have to be afraid. People who do not have a relationship with Jesus do not have this protection, and we shouldn't take it for granted.
Because we are under His wings, we can trust in Him. We are like baby birds that cannot fend for themselves but know that they are safe in their mother's wings. They might not understand what the mother protects them from, but they trust her. In the same way, we can trust God. While we will not understand all His ways or everything that may happen this year, we can trust that He is good and that He loves us more than we will ever know.
The verse ends by saying that the Lord's truth is our shield and buckler. Think about some of the truths that we know from the Lord. We know that He is faithful, good, and loving, that He is just, righteous, and all-powerful, and that He honors those who serve Him. These truths form a shield against the things of the world that suggest otherwise. When we have questions in the coming year about whether God sees us and loves us, these truths about Him form an impenetrable defense.
Decide to spend 2022 resting under the Lord's wings. You are already there—and have been there since you gave your life to Him. But when you commit yourself to putting on His truth, you can have the freedom and peace that comes from being a child of God.
Dear Lord, I thank you that I am your child. I am so grateful that I have a safe place to go under your wings and that you care so much for me. Help me to reject the lies of the world and instead put on truth. I love you, and I want to get to know you in 2022 on a deeper level than I ever have before. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explaination is that we were made for another world.

Yesterday's Bible VerseFor I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. :
In this verse, we find a tender reminder that the Lord is always with us and we do not have to be afraid in any circumstances. Whatever we are facing today, the Lord is right next to us and will help us see it to the end. As we look ahead to the new year, we can remember that the Lord will be with us every single moment of the next 365 days of 2022.
One thing that stands out to me about this verse is how the Lord recognizes that the Israelites might be afraid. In the context of this chapter of Isaiah, the Israelites are facing battles with other nations. The Lord understands their fear, and instead of telling them they were wrong to be afraid or chiding them for their lack of faith, He simply reminds them that He is right there with them.
Today, whatever you are experiencing—whether on the highest peak of a mountain, in the lowest valley, or somewhere in between—the Lord is willing to hold your hand. He does not look down on you for your weakness; in fact, he will help you overcome it. Whatever you are experiencing, you never have to face it alone. The very God of the universe loves you and will walk side by side with you.
We need to remember, though, that God will only hold our hand if we extend it to Him. He will not forcefully grab our hand to take control—but when we offer it to Him, He will gladly take it. We do not have to provide anything except our willingness to be helped by the Lord and He will answer and help us.
Think about beginning 2022 with your hands open. We will need the Lord even more than we realize, so go ahead and commit yourself to rely on Him to help you through everything. Know that He will be with you and that because of His presence, you have no reason to fear. Instead, look forward to the brand-new year with joy and anticipation because you will discover more and more the almighty power of the Lord.
Dear Lord, I thank you that you care about my fears and that when I think about you, they all go away. Your name makes my fears vanish because I remember that you are so much more powerful than all of them. Help me to cling to you in 2022, firmly rooted in who you are. In Jesus' name, amen.
