Today's Bible VerseThe meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
Add to FavoritesKing David wrote Psalm 25 as a meditation on his affection and love for the Lord. In the Psalm, there are a lot of instructions and comforting reminders about prayer, knowing God, and the guidance that He gives us. Today's verse is a reminder that the Lord will show us the paths that we should take in our lives.
The verse begins by saying that the Lord will guide the meek in judgment. The Lord will teach us how Biblical truths apply to our daily lives. He will help us understand how knowing that He is full of love changes the way that we treat other people. He will use our growing understanding of His promises to shape our behavior.
However, there is a caveat. The Lord does not guide everyone; He instructs only the meek. What does it mean to be meek? Contrary to common belief, meekness does not mean to be a weakling! Instead, being meek is simply our willingness to accept that we need the Lord to help us. It means that we have humble spirits and recognize that all the good within us has come from the Lord. The Lord is not interested in helping people who believe that they are self-sufficient. Instead, He guides those who recognize that they depend upon Him for every single breath.
He will teach the meek His way. This means if we are earnestly striving to know the Lord, we do not have to fret about missing His will for us. The Lord isn't holding a big secret over our heads that He'll reveal once we've jumped through a certain number of holy hoops. The Lord has given us all the guidance that we need to be completely in His will for today. We do not need a five-year plan from the Lord. Instead, we need humble submission and striving to get to know Him and a willingness to obey Him hour after hour, day after day.
Today's PrayerDear Lord, help me to be meek. It's easy to become prideful and to think that I have it all together. However, I want what you have for me, and I do not want to sacrifice your guidance for my false illusion of self--sufficiency. Help me to recognize that you are the author of my life. I love you, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.

Psalm 91 is about the protection of all believers in the name of Jesus. It talks about the benefits of knowing and honoring the Lord throughout our lives, and of the protection that He has promised each of us. Today's verse comes from near the end of the Psalm and talks about how the Lord honors us for loving Him. We'll break it down into smaller pieces to understand it.
The Psalm begins with, "because he hath set his love upon me." This explains why the Lord will protect someone. It appears that the Lord does not protect every person out there. Instead, He is selective. He protects those who have loved Him. If you look at your life, would you say that you have set your love upon Him? This does not mean that we live perfect lives, rather, that we continue to call upon the Lord day after day, striving to honor Him and live holy lives out of love for Him.
The Lord loves those who love Him, and He delivers them. He will protect us when we face trials; He will see to it that we are safe. This does not mean that we will never face hardships or suffering, but instead, that the Lord will not let the enemy take hold of us. He will not allow the enemy to take our hearts captive; He will protect us from sin and help us turn back to Him time and time again. We do not have to be afraid that we will lose our salvation because the Lord has promised to protect it. Even if we are not delivered from our trials on Earth, we will be delivered after death, where we will dwell with the Lord forever. This is ultimate—eternal—protection.
This verse ends with a reminder of why the Lord does these things: because we have known His name. When we know the name of the Lord, meaning that we truly know Him, we will love Him and He will love us and protect us. The Lord honors those who are trying earnestly to seek Him, and we can rest knowing that He will protect us always.
Dear Lord, I thank you for always being with me. You will protect me from anything that the enemy throws at me. I thank you that you have promised to deliver me from this world of sin and will let me dwell in your kingdom forever. I love you, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
