Afternoon Bible VersePut on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Add to FavoritesIn Ephesians 6:11, the "armour of God" is presented as one of the keys to living a victorious Christian life. This spiritual armor enables us to withstand and overcome the attacks of the enemy.
According to Scripture, the armor of God consists of the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit.
When soldiers went to war, they would be at a severe disadvantage without a set of well-fitting armor. Soldiers were aware that there were vulnerable parts of their bodies, even when they were wearing a set of armor.
For example, the enemy would attack a soldier's head with the intent of causing injury and confusion. When a soldier was temporarily disoriented, the enemy would take advantage of the opportunity and harm him.
The enemy of our souls has the intent of harming us. This can come in the form of confusion, doubt, or any weakness that the enemy can use against us.
The armor of God enables us to fight battles in our spiritual life. It provides protection and gives us the strength to withstand the enemy's lies. We can stand firm no matter what comes our way. With God's power in each of us, we can conquer fear and live victoriously.
Dear God, in your Word, I read about the armor that I can put on to withstand the attacks of the enemy. Help me to be aware of the temptations around me. Let me take up the sword of the Spirit and the breastplate of righteousness. Cover my mind, heart, and soul with your armor that can protect and preserve me. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.

The Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is one of the deepest known parts in all of Earth's oceans. It is more than 36,070 feet below sea level. No natural light can reach the depths of this astounding trench--but it is teeming with life. One creature that lives in these dark depths of the ocean is the anglerfish. This predator fish has a unique luminescent organ that entices prey to come close before it overtakes them.
God, our amazing Creator, created a species of fish equipped with a built-light that helps them survive in the deepest, darkest ocean.
The world without Jesus is dark and hopeless, but God created a plan to ensure His light was spread to every corner of the world.
Matthew 5:16 reminds us that each of us has a part in shining our light and spreading the Gospel of Jesus. We are called to shine, but not in our own power. It can be exhausting and futile to try to shine on our own, but when we ask God for His power, it flows through us.
God is calling us to influence the world and reach the lost for His glory. In order to make an impact, we have to live differently than the rest of the world. We should reflect the love of God through the good that we do. With God's light shining through us, He can use us to transform the world into a place of healing, love, and holiness.
God, every day, I have the opportunity to shine your light in the world around me. Let my life speak of your goodness and holiness. When Jesus was on Earth, His life was a reflection of your love. I ask that you use my actions to point others to you. In Jesus's name, amen.
