Today's Bible Verse
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
Jesus speaks these words to His disciples before the crucifixion. He has just told them that He is leaving them, and He knows they are likely to fear without Him. The antidote to fear is belief. Instead of letting their hearts be troubled, the disciples should believe in God and Jesus as His Son.
I think it was tender of Jesus to recognize that the disciples were afraid to be without their leader. Rather than chiding them for unbelief or faithlessness, He simply told them the solution to what they were feeling: believing in God.
Today we face a similar choice. Will we let our hearts be troubled by the world around us? Or will we make the intentional decision to cast our cares upon the Lord and believe that He is good? This may sound like an easy decision at face value, but it drastically affects the thoughts that we entertain and the way we respond to our feelings.
If we believe that the Lord is faithful, we are not subject to life's ups and downs that rock us. When we have decided in our hearts that the Lord is good, we do not have to be afraid of what happens in our lives because nothing will shake our firm belief in His faithfulness. That firm, unshakable belief is the anchor that keeps us steady in every circumstance.
The disciples were about to experience many doubts and fears, but Jesus tells them they can trust that God is good and faithful. Three days later, they saw exactly what He meant.
Dear Lord, I thank you for the Resurrection that proved you are faithful always and in every circumstance. I thank you for your goodness and kindness. I ask that you would help me to rid myself of unbelief and that I would rest fulfilled in your presence. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.

Yesterday's Bible Verse
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
:
In this verse, Peter is quoting Isaiah to emphasize that while our flesh is weak, we have power through the Word of the Lord, which endures forever. While our bodies and our minds are fragile, the Bible is true and will last forever.
This means we do not have to be afraid of our circumstances today. Even though we might be facing something difficult, we know that the Lord is faithful and true. When our feelings tempt us to believe that God doesn't see us or care anything about us, we can turn to the Bible and read about how He loved us enough to send Jesus to save us.
Even though our flesh is weak, we can anchor ourselves in the Word of the Lord, which will never change. We can take our thoughts and feelings captive to His Word over and over again, knowing that while feelings are temporary, His Word is eternal. This gives us hope because we are assured of having something to cling to when it seems like our lives are falling apart. It reminds us that we have something far greater than fleeting comforts.
When we preach the Gospel, we're not preaching something that is temporary or changing. Instead, we are speaking eternal truth to someone. We're helping the person glimpse at what is real and the only path to salvation. We can have confidence that we are delivering a message that offers eternal hope and eternal salvation, and we can rejoice in knowing that the Lord's love is covering everything from beginning to end.
Dear Lord, I thank you so much for the goodness that you have shown me. I thank you that your Word is eternal. It never changes; the Gospel is as good today as it was 2,000 years ago. I thank you for your sweet mercies and kindnesses to me. In Jesus' name, amen.
