Today's Bible VerseThe Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

In this verse in Exodus, the Israelites say the Lord is their strength and their song. They know their strength comes from the Lord. He has sustained them throughout their exile in Egypt and supernaturally intervened to set them free. He was the source of their salvation from the Egyptians, and they express their joy in song.
This is a good reminder for us to praise the Lord when He delivers us. It can be easy to breathe a sigh of relief and then keep going instead of stopping and taking time to reflect on His faithfulness. When we make a habit of thanking the Lord often for intervening for us, we will remember that He is the one who sustains us.
Moreover, God not only sustains us but is also our salvation itself. His saving the Israelites is no less miraculous than our own salvation. When we came to know Jesus, the Lord supernaturally intervened in our hearts.
As a result, we, like the Israelites, should exalt Him. If we become discouraged, we should think about the miracle that our salvation represents. We are saved because Jesus saw us and called us His own—in the same way that God called the Israelites out of Egypt. We can trust the Lord because He has been the strength of His people for thousands of years, and will continue to be for all eternity.
Dear Lord, I am so grateful that you are my strength and my song. I thank you, Lord, that you sustain me every day. Thank you for delivering me from my sins and for your daily mercies. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.

Yesterday's Bible VerseFor even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. :

At one point in Jesus' ministry, James and John asked to sit next to Him. This frustrated the other disciples, and Jesus responded with today's verse. He emphasized that the greatest among them is not necessarily the person in authority, but instead the person who serves the most. He said that His life would demonstrate this; He did not come into the world to be ministered to, but to minister and ultimately give His life away.
We are the beneficiaries of Jesus' ministry. He saved us once and for all on the cross, and we are able to have a relationship with Him because He has atoned for our sins.
Jesus was a minister. He modeled for us what ultimate sacrifice and perfect love look like. Now, like James and John, we are supposed to spread Jesus' love throughout the world as servants. Just as Jesus came to minister to us, we are called to minister to other people.
Servanthood is a high and holy calling. Jesus lived a perfect life, and He spent it in service to the lowest of people. If we are truly imitating Jesus, we are making sacrifices to our personal comfort, choosing instead to live as Jesus did and look for opportunities to serve.
Serving others is not primarily about the people we serve. Instead, it is all about being faithful to God. When we serve, we are able to better understand the love that Jesus has for us. It instills humility and teaches us that true greatness is not about authority, power, money, or thrones, but instead in actively loving the people that God has given us the opportunity to minister to.
Dear Lord, thank you so much for coming to this earth as a servant. Thank you for being a God who gives and helps us to be servants who love well just as Jesus did. Please help us as we honor you through serving, and remind us to be humble as Jesus was. In Jesus' name, amen.
