Afternoon Bible VerseBeing confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Add to Favorites Share with FriendIt can be challenging to stay encouraged when it seems like you can't win in life. This is especially true when you feel like a failure at meeting your own expectations. Maybe you wish you were further along in your relationship with God. Or you thought your life would turn out differently than it has. Philippians 1:6 is an encouragement during those times. It reminds us that when God began working in your life, He started the process of making us more like Him. And the good news is, He will continue to change us and help us to grow throughout our entire lives.
When we make mistakes, the Lord is ready to wrap us in His grace and help us get back on our feet again. If we fall short, then we know He is there to walk beside us and give us everything we need. We can rest, knowing that God will never give up on us. He is a loving Father to His children. Instead of feeling frustrated with our shortcomings, we can look for opportunities to grow and mature. We can be thankful that God is with us as we learn how to become more like Him.
Afternoon PrayerHeavenly Father, today I pray that you would renew my confidence in you. Help me to view my life the way you see me. When I get discouraged, remind me that your grace covers my failures. Thank you for not only beginning the work on me, but also finishing it. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.

Yesterday Afternoon's Bible VerseFor my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.:

If we were to ask 100 people to describe God's character, we would get 100 completely different answers. We might get answers like God is love, God is good, and God is fair.
The Bible says that we are all made in the image of God. Although we may not look alike, dress alike, or even think alike, the fact remains that God created each of us in our uniqueness.
Still, no matter how different we are or how alike we may think or act, this afternoon's verse in Isaiah reminds us that our thoughts are not God's thoughts, and our ways are not His ways.
Could you imagine what the world would look like if we had made it? It's impossible to imagine because we don't have the ability to think in the same way that God thinks.
God sees the beginning and end of time and everything in between. He sees the result of every decision that we have made or ever will make. That alone gives Him insight that we can't possibly imagine. We're simply not capable.
When Jesus walked the earth, He gave us a small glimpse into the mind of God through His actions, His words, and His sacrifice for us. But there's still so much that we don't know—and don't need to know because God has everything under control.
Heavenly Father, I pray for the things that I worry about and ask that you help me to remember that you have everything under control. Help me to trust in your ways and lay my will at your feet. In Jesus' name, amen.
