Afternoon Bible VerseMake a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Add to Favorites Share with FriendThe Psalm also instructs us to serve the Lord "with gladness." Serving God and others demonstrates humility. Whether it's helping someone in need, giving financially, or using our talents and time to bless others, it is a form of gratitude.
Obedience and living a holy life flow out of a heart that is full of thankfulness. We should be grateful for God's love, mercy, grace, and salvation. Instead of pursuing our own pleasures and desires, we can worship God in all we say, think, and do. When our attitude is focused on honoring God, almost anything can be an act of thanksgiving and praise. God's Spirit can enable us to live in a way that exalts Jesus as we allow Him to direct our thoughts and actions.
Afternoon PrayerGod, I praise your name. What a privilege it is to come before you and thank you for all you have done. If there are things in my life that keep me from serving you with gladness, please make me aware of them. Let every action and word that I speak demonstrate sincere gratitude from my heart. In Jesus' name, amen.
If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.

God will not look you over for medals, degrees or diplomas but for scars.

The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.

Yesterday Afternoon's Bible VerseTrain up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.:

Proverbs 22:6 is one of the most well-known Scripture passages on child-rearing. Children are a wonderful gift from God. It is a privilege to raise them to follow His ways.
No matter what our role, whether it is parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher, or friend, if we have the opportunity to influence a child, we should realize the importance of the things we do and say.
As parents, we are always training our kids, even when we aren't doing it intentionally. They learn everything from us … how to talk, walk, what to eat, how to interact with others, and so forth.
Children look to adults to demonstrate what their possible future may look like. Our attitudes affect how they treat others and how they respond to God.
Without guidance, children are left to form their own judgments about what is right and wrong. Their ideas may be foolish and demonstrate a lack of common sense. Our influence, when guided by the Holy Spirit, can make a lasting impact on their lives.
By instructing them in God's commandments, we are helping them understand that God's Word is the highest authority in our lives … and the way to stay on the right path. When our children make mistakes, we have the opportunity to extend the same grace to them that God has shown to us. We aren't left to train up our children on our own. God can provide all the wisdom and guidance we need to help our children follow after Him.
Yesterday Afternoon's Prayer
Heavenly Father, you set the ultimate example of how to love others when you sent Jesus to us. Give me the strength and wisdom I need to instruct the children whom you have placed in my path. Help me to show grace even as they make mistakes and grow. Use me as a powerful influence in their lives to point them to you. In Jesus' name, amen.
